LMT Tools is one of the leading manufacturers of precision tool solutions. To meet market demands, digitalization has become a core focus of the company’s strategy. The relaunch of its digital presence—consisting of an online shop and corporate website—marks the starting point of the Customer Experience Platform (CEP), serving as the foundation for a future-proof, scalable digital infrastructure.

From Traditional Sales to a Digital Platform Strategy

For a long time, LMT Tools was successful with a personal, technically driven sales approach. However, with increasing complexity, rising customer expectations and international growth, it became clear: separate online stores and isolated processes were hindering scalability and efficiency.

The ambition: to consolidate multiple fragmented shop systems and replace them with a central, modular solution that appeals to both - existing and new customers - in a modern omnichannel approach.

Our Vision: Creating a Seamless Digital Shopping Experience

Together with foryouandyourcustomers, LMT Tools aims to develop a future-ready Customer Experience Platform (CEP) that digitally supports the entire customer lifecycle—from product selection to after-sales and consulting.
At the heart of the initiative is a clear, intuitive user experience. The new shop allows customers to explore, compare, and directly order products in a structured way. The product catalog is intelligently digitized—with filterable structures, application information, industry solutions, and service offerings.

The CEP consciously goes beyond classic e-commerce: it becomes the central hub for all digital customer interactions.

Our Strategy: Understand First, Then Design

Before implementation began, LMT Tools and foryouandyourcustomers completed a structured analysis and strategy phase. The Exploded View method was used to visualize all relevant levels - from the customer journey and internal processes to the system landscape and data architecture.

This was translated into a holistic target vision for the digital platform. At the same time, the team was supported by structured change management, which not only focused on introducing agile methods such as Scrum and Kanban, but also on changing ways of thinking and working when dealing with digital topics.

Through joint workshops and iterative work phases, responsibilities were clarified, decisions accelerated and cooperation between business, IT and marketing strengthened.

At the same time, clear content structures, consistent product data logic and a growing understanding of what user-centered thinking and digital services mean in practice were created - not as buzzwords, but as an integral part of daily collaboration.

This holistic approach is essential in order to combine technology, organization and customer perspective from the very beginning.

The solution in detail: harmonized, user-centric and future-proof!

1. Commerce Orchestration:  Coordinated Interaction of Specialized Systems

The platform implementation follows the principle of commerce orchestration. Instead of relying on a monolithic system, specialized services were deliberately combined—orchestrated into a powerful, scalable and modular platform.

  • Emporix acts as the commerce engine, managing all transactional processes—pricing, shopping carts, orders—flexibly and in real time.

  • Contentful serves as the headless CMS, enabling centralized management and cross-channel delivery of marketing and product content.

  • Algolia powers fast, intuitive navigation as a high-performance search solution—including a visual “Art Selector” for precise product experiences.

  • Cimsource provides additional technical product data such as 3D models, variants, and relationship information.

Thinking big, starting small: Even with an ecosystem not yet fully expanded, clear interfaces, structured system architecture and user-centered design enabled the realization of a powerful and expandable platform.


2. Customer Centricity: Structured Content, Intuitive User Guidance

A central element is the design of a clear and purposeful customer experience. Together with foryouandyourcustomers, navigation, information architecture and product search were developed to guide users quickly to the right product—whether they are experts or new customers.

Particular emphasis was placed on a consistent content strategy: marketing content, technical product data and brand identity were connected in a structured way—ensuring a seamless user experience across all touchpoints.
The design combines functionality with clarity and reinforces LMT Tools’ positioning as a technology leader—even in the digital space.

3. Maximum Connectivity: A Platform with Perspective – Designing the Future with Modular Expandability

The new Customer Experience Platform is deliberately designed as a growing digital ecosystem. It can flexibly expand to include features such as self-service, after-sales offerings, additional product areas or regional rollouts.
